Pakistan is celebrating its 70th Independence Day today, says a press release.
Pakistan won freedom from the British colonial rule on 14th August, 1947, under the great leadership of Muhammad Ali Jinnah, when India was divided on the principle of Two Nation Theory into two separate independent states – Pakistan and Bharat.
Pakistanis, all over the world, observe 14th August every year with full enthusiasm and fervour. The event has gained more significance this year because it is the 70th Independence Anniversary of Pakistan in 2017.
The Independence Day will also be observed at the Pakistan High Commission in Dhaka with a national spirit and a brief ceremony will also be held at the Chancery at 1000 hours. The High Commissioner for Pakistan in Dhaka, Rafiuzzaman Siddiqui, will perform the flag hoisting ceremony.
A large number of Pakistani community residing in Bangladesh will also participate in the Independence Day celebration.
