Chittagong journalists at a protest rally yesterday urged Finance Minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith to withdraw his derogatory remarks about formation of the ninth wage board award and seek apology to the journalist community, reports BSS. They also said finance minister’s remarks about journalists and the news industry is “a reflection of nothing but a rubbish conspiracy against the journalist community.”
The entire media is hurt, aggrieved and his remarks are unwarranted, they said. The journalists came up with the comments at the protest rally arranged by Chittagong Union of Journalists (CUJ) on Chittagong Press Club premises. Presided over by CUJ president Reaz Haidar Chowdhury, the rally was addressed, among others, by Vice President of Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ) Shahidul Alam, CUJ Secretary Mohammad Ali, journalists Hasan Ferdous, SM Ibrahim, Swarup Bhattacharjee, Masudul Hoque, Mohammad Ali Pasha, Abdur Rouf Patwari, Hasan Shahriar, Anindya Titu, Latifa Ansari Runa and Al Rahman.
