CHITTAGONG: Over 100 workers of a factory at Export Processing Zone (EPZ) area here fell sick for 'drinking polluted water', reports UNB.
Workers said more the 100 workers of 'OMI' factory (footwear factory) of 'Youngone' group started falling sick after drinking contaminated water of the factory since Wednesday morning.
However, Bipu Bose, medical officer of factory's medical centre, said the workers were affected with diarrhea after having their own meals and some of them have already taken treatment.
“A total of 53 sick workers have been admitted to the medical center till Thursday afternoon, he said.
General Manager of Bangladesh Export Processing Zones Authority Md Khorshed Alam said 30-35 workers were given treatment for diarrhea at the medical centre of the factory. and two workers were given treatment at BEPZA medical.
