Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has said private, public and cooperative sectors should work together to turn Bangladesh into a dignified nation through ensuring overall development, reports BSS.
The Prime Minister said this when a delegation of Bangladesh Independent Power Producers' Association (BIPPA) led by its President Md Latif Khan of Summit Power met her at her office yesterday to hand over cheques of donations for three organisations.
The donations were given for Prime Minister's Relief Fund, Prime Minister's Education Assistance Trust Fund and Jatir Janak Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Memorial Trust Fund.
After the handing over of donation cheques, PM's Press Secretary Ihsanul Karim briefed newsmen.
Sheikh Hasina put emphasis on increasing power generations as the demand of the energy is growing day by day.
She said her government for the first time allowed private sector to construct power plants and generate electricity in the country and withdrew import tax on generator import. The Prime Minister also said the economic planning of her government is to ensure rural based development.
In response, BIPPA leaders expressed their gratitude to the Prime Minister for encouraging them in investing in power sector. Prime Minister's advisor Dr Toufiq E Elahi Chowdhury, State Minister for Power and Energy Nasrul Hamid, Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister Dr Kamal Abdul Naser Chowdhury and PMO secretary Suraiya Begum were present.
