Naogaon DSA emerged champions in the Walton 4th National Youth Women Handball Championship beating Jamalpur DSA 27-12 in the final at Shaheed M Monsur Ali Handball Stadium in the capital yesterday. The first half scores were 13-8 in favour of Naogaon.
Noorjahan with a good marksmanship netted a dozen goals for the winners. Purnima with six and Nazneen with five were the other two leading scorers for Naogaon. Alpana banged five and Misty scored four goals for Jamalpur.
Purnima of Naogaon was the adjudged the best player of the tournament, while Fouzia was adjudged the best goalkeeper.
Eminent sports organizer Harunur Rashid distributed prizes as chief guest. Operative Director (Head of Sports and Welfare) of Walton Group was present as special guest along with Bangladesh Handball Federation General Secretary Asaduzzaman Kohinoor.
