The batsmen showed yet another poor performance on the second day of the three-dayer practice match between Tamim Iqbal XI and Mushfiqur Rahim XI yesterday at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium.

While there was expectation that someone who got the start would carry his innings, it wasn’t just materialized as three batsmen from Tamim Iqbal’s side got dismissed after reaching half-century mark.

Mominul Haque for whom the match was a test to stake his claim in the Test squad again got out on 73 while Nasir Hossain, another batsman waiting for Test call was out on 62. Tanbir Hayder also reached half-century but didn’t carry it as he was removed on 51.

Tamim Iqbal’s side finally was bowled out for 283 in 78.3 overs, resuming the day on 49 for one. Earlier Mushfiq XI were skittled out for 140 in their first innings on Wednesday.

Starting the day on 23, Tamim added just six runs to score 29. He was trapped run out after having misunderstanding between him and Mominul.

Tamim looked determined to play long innings but the unfortunate run out made his innings short. Sabbir Rahman scored just 10 runs in between.

Only pace bowler Rubel Hossain made some impact as he terrorized the Tamim Iqbal XI with pace and bounce. He ended with three for 54 in 17 overs. The pitch however was little slow unlike the first day but still the spinners couldn’t have that impact.

Taijul Islam took two wickets but conceded 80 runs as the batsmen played him effortlessly. Another left arm spinner Sanjamul Islam was more effective than Taijul, snapping up three for 64.

Sanjamul however wasn’t that threatening initially but as the time progressed he found his line and length.

Mushfiqur Rahim’s side started their second innings after the tea break. Before the rain forced the day end prematurely, they were 24 for one.

Imrul Kayes once again failed to make impact. He hit Mustafizur Rahman who was given new ball for two consecutive boundaries before the bowler got him out in the third ball. Soumya Sarkar and Nazmul Hossain Shanto were batting on 9 and 7 runs respectively.
