Popular actress Bipasha Hayat has brought some of her exclusive paintings and drawing works for a solo exhibition titled ‘Realms of Memory’ at Bengal Art Lounge. The three-week long exhibition of drawing and painting will be inaugurated today at 6 pm at its premises. ‘Realms of Memory’ involves translating emotions in forgotten memories and putting them onto the canvas. Bipasha uses wide-ranging palettes of colours with the aim to recreate past impressions and through her unique painting style, with the combination of colour application and scratching of selected parts of the painted surface, she attempts to symbolically enter to the essence of memory and to awaken feelings.
Bipasha Hayat said, “It seems to me that people rely on their memories when emphasizing on a work and it really is quite intriguing. I also did the same in my exhibition, using my memories to play with different colours. I am trying to express the thoughts in my mind to everyone in such a way. I have worked with an abstract theme.”
Bipasha Hayat is one of successful TV, theatre and film actresses of the country. In May 2009, she has donated some of her sketches for the charity painting exhibition for Acid victims, organized by Purple magazine in Dhaka.
For her outstanding work, she has also earned various awards, including UNESCO, Ananya, Meril-Prothom Alo and Anyadin-Impress Telefilm Awards. She won a National Award as the best actress for her performance in the film ‘Aguner Parashmani’, based on a story during Bangladesh’s War of Independence.
The exhibition will continue until August 29 from 12pm to 8pm.
