Two popular troupes stage their plays in capital today

Theatre and PrangoneMor, two very popular theatre troupes of the country, will stage their much acclaimed plays today at two separate venues in the capital. Theatre will stage the 174th show of their play Meraj Fakirer Ma today at 7pm at the Studio Theatre Hall of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy, Segun Bagicha. On the other hand, Prangane Mor is going to stage its Tagores play titled Ami O Rabindranath at 7pm at the Mahila Samity Mancha in the capitals Baily Road area.
Abdullah Al Mamuns play Meraj Fakirer Ma poses a few very important question of life: What is more important--relationship or religion? Should a son leave his mother if his views regarding religion differ from that of hers? In fact, through this satirical play, the playwright tries to bring out the human values and depict certain characters, who oppress people in the name of religion. Hasan Ahmed is the set designer, while Thandu Ryhan is the lighting designer of the production.
Based on the life and works of Rabindranath Tagore, the play Ami O Rabindranath has been scripted and directed by Nuna Afroz. Besides, Nuna Afroz has designed the stage. About the play Nuna Afroz said, The play Ami O Rabindranath depicts Tagores life and works through an eye of his devoted reader.
The cast of the play includes Ananta Hira, Ramiz Raju, Awal Reza, Saroar Saikat, Touhid Biplob and Nuna Afroz, among others. Musical arrangement has been done by Ramiz Raju, while Touhid Rabin did the lighting design.
Tickets will be available in front of the hall before the show.
