Stocks close week up on higher transactions

Stocks ended the week yesterday upward with rising trend of major price indices at Dhaka and Chittagong Stock Exchanges on higher transactions, reports BSS.
The daily average trade value at DSE was 35.4 per cent up at Tk 843.93 crore and the trade volume was 44.4 per cent up at 27.74 crore shares.
The broader DSEX of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) closed the week with 65.38 points up at 5880.45. But the blue-chip DS30 and Shariah DSES closed the week with 5.98 points down at 2,123.12 and with 6.01 points down at 1,311.63.
Out of the 333 traded securities, 196 closed higher against 123 losing issues when 14 remained unchanged.
During the week, the top five gainers were Dulamia Cotton, Samata LEATHER, ISNLTD, Shurwid and Fu Wang Foods.
The five major losing companies included Pragati Life, Union Capital, Mercantile Insurance, Islami Insurance and BD Auto Cars.
The top five turnover leaders were Lanka Bangla Finance, City Bank, BBS Cables, CAN Textile and One Bank.
Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also closed the week up, with its major CASPI index ending 197.23 points higher at 18,236.57.
Like DSE, most of the issues traded here closed higher when both the trade value and volume of shares increased.
