2 remanded over rape in N’ganj running truck

A court in Narayanganj put two people on a 4-day remand each in a case over rape on a running truck in Siddirganj upazila, reports UNB from Narayanganj. Narayanganj Chief Metropolitan Magistrates' Court passed the order when police produced two accused in the case-truck driver Mehedi Hasan and helper Sohan---before the court, said officer-in-charge of Sidhirganj Police Station Abdus Sattar.

Police said the duo picked up the 16-year-old girl from Gazipur’s Kapasia around 8pm on Tuesday and raped her when they reached the airport area in Dhaka on the way to Narayanganj. The girl, after an argument with her mother, left home on Tuesday afternoon, said police quoting the victim. Locals at Godnail in Siddhirganj rescued her after hearing her crying early Wednesday. Later, the girl was sent to Narayanganj General Hospital for a medical test.

On Wednesday night, driver Mehedi Hasan was arrested from in front of Adamji Sonamia Market area, who confessed to raping the girl. Police also seized the truck. Later police arrested another accused Sohan from Godanail area in Siddirganj on Thursday morning.
