Marking the 74th death anniversary of Nobel laureate poet Rabindranath Tagore, cultural arena of the country organized different elaborate programmes on August 6. As part of this programme, Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy organized a discussion and cultural event at its National Music and Dance Centre Auditorium on Thursday. Presided over by BSA director general Liaquat Ali Lucky, director of music, dance and recitation department of BSA Sohrab Uddin delivered the welcome speech on the occasion while Prof Dr Akter Kamal delivered keynote speech on the life and works of the Nobel laureate. After the discussion session, a cultural programme was held where singers Shimu Dey, Azizur Rahman Tuhin, Tania Mannan, ATM Jahangir, Soma Rani Roy, Salma Akbar, and Mahadeb Ghoshe rendered some popular songs at the event. Besides, prominent artiste Shimul Mostufa delighted audiences through reciting poems on the occasion. The cultural part also included a group dance, directed by Shormila Bandapadyay, and a dance drama titled ‘Shororitu’ by Farhana Chowdhury Baby. Marking the day in a befitting manner, Bangla Academy held a discussion and cultural programme at its Poet Shamsur Rahman Seminar Room on Thursday. Presided over by President of Bangla Academy Prof Dr Anisuzzaman, its Director General Shamsuzzaman Khan delivered welcome speech and Prof Begum Akter Kamal delivered keynote speech on the life and works of Tagore at the programme.
