CHITTAGONG: Two lighterage ships collided near Buoy No 1 on the outer anchorage of Chittagong port on Wednesday night, reports UNB.
Port sources said the lighterage ship MV Nayeb, carrying fertilisers, collided with another lighterage ship Santamul Haque-2 around 10:00 pm, creating a hole in the bottom of the former one and water started entering into the ship.
On information, salvage ship of coast guard rushed in and towed the MV Nayeb to the char of Patenga sea beach and rescued its 13 crew, public relations officer Lieutenant Commander Sheikh Fakhruddin at coast guard east zone told UNB.
