Nayanthara’s 50-second ad had made her the highest paid southern actress

Nayanthara’s 50-second ad had made her the highest paid southern actress

Hindustan Times

With a slew of projects such as Imaikka Nodigal, Aramm and Kolayuthir Kaalam in her kitty, Nayanthara is busy juggling between film sets and she barely has time for anything else. Currently shooting for her yet-untitled Telugu film with Nandamuri Balakrishna, Nayanthara took out time to shoot an advertisement for Tata Sky and earnings from it has made her the highest paid southern female actor.

Having been paid Rs 3 crore for her last Tamil outing Irumugan with Vikram, Nayanthara has now been paid a whopping Rs 5 crore for a 50-second Tata Sky advertisement and the news has sent shock waves across the industry. The ad was shot over two days and it makes sense why she must have accepted the offer. The commercial was released in four languages -- Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada.

On the career front, she is on a signing spree. She recently signed a dark comedy titled Co Co, to be directed by debutant Nelson Dilip Kumar and bankrolled by Lyca Productions. It will be a female-oriented dark comedy on the lines of Nayan’s own Naanum Rowdydhaan, and it will feature her in a role sans any romantic pair. The film will have music by Anirudh Ravichander, who has big ticket flicks such as Vivegam and the yet-untitled Pawan Kalyan’s film in his kitty. Saranya Ponvannan and Yogi Babu have been finalised to play pivotal role while the rest of the cast and crew will be finalised in a couple of week’s time. Meanwhile, Nayanthara has signed a Telugu film with actor Balakrishna and the yet-untitled film will be directed by KS Ravi Kumar. Lyca Productions, which has so far backed big ticket films such as Kaththi, Rajinikanth’s 2.o and Kamal Haasan’s Sabash Naidu, is also betting on medium budget films such as Co Co and Sai Pallavi’s Karu.
