The shipping ministry yesterday suspended chief engineer of the department of shipping (DoS) AKM Fakhrul Islam, who was caught red-handed while taking bribe at his Motijheel office.
The ministry issued an order in this regard which became effective from July 18.
The suspended chief engineer will enjoy the benefit of sustenance allowance, the order said.
Public relations officer of the department Jahangir Alam Khan said the action was taken against Fakhrul as he was arrested by an Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) team for corruption. A team of the Anti-corruption Commission (ACC) on July 18 arrested AKM Fakhrul Islam, chief engineer and chief ship surveyor of the department of shipping (DoS), with bribery money.
The ACC team caught him red-handed while taking bribe (Tk five lakh) at his Motijheel office yesterday.
