Three killed in road accident
PABNA: Three people were killed and three others injured as a bus hit a locally-made vehicle in Chinkhara area under Sujanagar upazila of the district yesterday, reports BSS.
Among the deceased two were identified as Mirajul Islam, 30, son of Harej Mullah of Bhoirobpur village under Sathia upazila and minor girl Ria, daughter of Shipon Hossain, a resident of Chinkhara area. Identity of the other deceased woman could not be known immediately.
In-charge of Madhupur Highway Police Camp Sub-Inspector (SI) Anwar Hossain said the accident occurred when a Pabna-bound bus hit the vehicle in the area at about 11 am as its driver lost control over the steering, leaving one dead on the spot and five others injured.
The injured were sent to Pabna General Hospital where two others succumbed to their injuries.
Woman hacked dead in Tangail

A woman was hacked to death allegedly by her rivals over a land-related dispute in Ghatail upazila of Tangail district on Tuesday night.
The deceased was identified as Aklima, 30, of Zigartala village under the upazila. Police recovered her body yesterday.
Local people said the rivals attacked Aklima and hacked her with sharp weapons at her house at night, leaving her dead on the spot.
Being informed, police recovered her body yesterday and sent it to Tangail Medical College Hospital, said Mohiuddin, officer-in-charge of Ghatail
police station. A case was lodged in this connection.
Two minors drown in Kushtia

Two minor cousins drowned in a pond at Baradi village of the district town here yesterday.
The deceased were identified as Mawa, 2, daughter of Abul Kalam and her cousin Apan, 3, son of Amin Uddin of the village.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Kushtia Model Police Station Nasir Uddin said Mawa and Apan fell into the pond while playing beside it nearby the house in the morning and drowned.
Later, family members found the children floating in the pond and took them to Kushtia Medical College Hospital where duty doctors declared them dead.
Workshop on Molecular Diagnostic Methods held
Bagerhat: A 5-day training workshop on ‘Application of Molecular Diagnostic Methods for Shrimp’ was held at Bangladesh Fisheries Research Institute (BFRI), Shrimp Research Station in Bagerhat, says a press release.
It was arranged to strengthen the capacity of 14 Bangladeshi professionals of different institutions in advanced diagnosis and management of diseases for the sustainability of shrimp and prawn sector.
Dr Arun K Dhar, a renowned molecular biologist and the director of world-famous Aquaculture Pathology Laboratory at the University of Arizona, USA conducted the training workshop from July 29 to August 2, 2017. Professors from Khulna University, Bangladesh Agricultural University and Dhaka University, BFRI scientists, lab experts from WorldFish and private sector and SAFETI staff attended the event.
The training workshop was organised under the partnership between USDA funded Safe Aqua Farming for Economic and Trade Improvement (SAFETI) Project and USAID funded Asia Farmer-to-Farmer Programme, implemented by Winrock International.
