Boy killed in road accident
SYLHET: A minor boy was killed in a road accident on Sylhet bypass road in Sherpur area of the city on Thursday night. The deceased was identified as Hiron Miah, 10, son of  Nur Miah, resident of  Kholilpur Union of Shodor upazila in Sylhet. Police said the accident took place when the speedy truck hit him while he was crossing the road around 10pm on Thursday, leaving him critically injured. Local people rescued him and rushed him to a  hospital where doctors declared him dead. Driver of the truck fled the place after the incident. The body was sent to Moulvibazar hospital for autopsy, said Abdus Salek, officer-in-charge of Moulvibazar thana.  

Robbery committed in Sylhet
SYLHET: A group of armed robbers looted valuables from a house at Baluchor in city on Thursday night. Quoting a witnesses, police said a group of robbers, numbering 6 to 7, swooped on the house of Abdul Hakim at the night and looted valuables, worth about Tk two lakh, keeping family members hostage at gunpoint. Later, the robbers escaped from the spot. After the incident police arrested Abdul Hakim’s driver Anwar Hussain. No case was filed in this connection.
