The 26-member provisionary squad of Bangladesh women’s national cricket team started their first spell practice session ahead of the upcoming home series against South Africa yesterday.
The forthcoming bilateral series, comprising of five ODIs and three Twenty20 international matches, with the Proteas will be held in the fourth week of October. The visitors are scheduled to arrive here in Dhaka on October 16. All the matches are slated to take place at three different venues of Cox’s Bazar, Dhaka and Sylhet of the country.
The 10-day training session, which opened with fitness training at the National Cricket Academy, will continue till August 16.
After two-day break, the main practice with bat and ball will be started in the second spell to be commenced from August 19.
“After reporting we all have been given accommodation in Mirpur Krira Palli on Thursday. We have started our training camp with fitness test yesterday.
We will start our skill practice after one week,” said pacer Jahanara Alam, vice-captain of Bangladesh Women’s Cricket Team.
With Nahida Akhter, Sharifa Khatun, Sumona Akhter, Suraiya Azmin, Jannatul Ferdous, Nigar Sultana and Fahima Khatun, Rubya Haider was picked from the recently concluded maiden edition of the Dhaka Premier Division Women’s Cricket League for the preliminary squad as the rookie player.
