New issue of DOT launched

The fourth issue of volume 2 of DOT, an art and architecture focused quarterly magazine in Bangladesh, has been published recently. The launching ceremony of the magazine’s latest issue took place at the auditorium of North South University in the capital on July 20. The event was attended by a large number of architecture students and teachers with some legendary educationists, architects and intellectuals of the country.

DOT has been published since September 2015 by Delvistaa Foundation without any interruption till date. The materialization of the extraordinary high esteem job has been accomplished by its Editor, the renowned Architect and Painter Mustapha Khalid Palash. Other members of the DOT editorial panel are Ar. Mustasim M Khan, Ar. Shahzia Islam, Ar. Rezaur Rahman and Ar. MA Kayesh Tanim, along with the Assistant Editors Asif Salman and Khan Noirit Mustapha.

Ar. Rezaur Rahman welcomed the audience with the inspirational words of Rabindranath Tagore at the launching event of DOT vol-2 issue-04. The Editor of DOT Ar. Mustapha Khalid Palash urged to the policy makers in his speech to take the initiatives for the architecture and urban planning, as it can induce a harmonious social order that would enhance the quality of urban life with the moral and virtue of its dwellers.

Ar. Mustapha Khalid Palash also reminded all that DOT is not only an Art and Architectural magazine, but also a movement of appropriate architecture for Bangladesh. Among the invitees was Professor Ar. Shamsul Wares, who stated his motivational address to the students for being enlightened with our own climate and culture through continuously searching the root. On that occasion, Professor Ar. Haroon Ur Rashid, Ar. Rafiq Azam, Chairman of the NSU Architecture Department Ar. Shaila Joarder and Assistant Manager of Shah Cement Industries Tasnuva Haider also expressed their best wishes to the DOT magazine and its team for the smooth continuation. The general secretary of Delvistaa Foundation Ar. Shahzia Islam gave the vote of thanks to all of the contributors of this issue and the launching event of DOT.

Besides art and architectural content here, it incorporates the ‘Shah Cement-DOT Student Design Awards’ with three categories in this magazine. In the second part of the programme, the ‘Shah Cement-DOT Student Design Awards’ 7th cycle was announced and distributed the award money, a crest and a certificate to the awardees from different universities.
