Dhaka joins OIC to condemn Israeli violations

Muslim Ummah’s united voice sought to protect Palestinians

As one of the eight members of the OIC executive committee, Bangladesh has re-emphasised the universally accepted "two state solutions" in resolving the longstanding Palestinian crisis, reports UNB.

Bangladesh also called upon the Muslim Ummah for presenting in a united voice in all relevant international for a, including the UN Security Council and Unesco, for protecting the people of Palestine as well as its holy places.

State Minister for Foreign Affairs M Shahriar Alam who led the Bangladesh delegation at the open-ended extraordinary meeting of the OIC Executive Committee in Istanbul yesterday conveyed Bangladesh's position.

Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu chaired the meeting participated by Ministers, State Ministers from OIC member States, and Secretary General of OIC Dr Yousef Al Othaimeen.

The meeting took place against the background of recent distressing escalation in Al-Quds Al-Sharif, and in particular the grave violations of Israel against the sanctity of Masjid Al-Aqsa, according to a message received here from Istanbul.

The State Minister was firm and unequivocal in conveying that the people of Bangladesh and the government led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina strongly condemn and totally reject the Israeli violations, and expressed unflinching solidarity with the Palestinian brothers and sisters.

He also emphasised the importance of creating awareness among people in non-Muslim states for protecting the legitimate rights of the Palestinians.

The State Minister also urged the OIC member states for providing all-out support, including development and capacity building assistance to empower the Palestinians - both internally and internationally - so as to enable them to better defend their legitimate rights.

The meeting issued a joint communique outlining a list of actions to uphold their responsibilities of international community towards the cause of Palestine and Al-Quds Al-Sharif.
