Youth stabbed dead over affairs in Ctg
A young man was stabbed to death by rivals in Jhautola Sarder Bahadur Nagar area under Khulshi Police Station on Monday night over love affairs.
The deceased was identified as Mohammad Masum, 20, son of Md Julfikar Ali.
Sheikh Mohammad Nasir Uddin, officer-in-charge of Khulshi Police Station, said that Masum had a dispute with several local young men over love relations with a woman.
Following the dispute, his rivals stabbed him indiscriminately around 10:00 pm, leaving him dead on the spot.

2 held with yaba tablets
Detectives in a drive have arrested two alleged drug peddlers along with 20,000 yaba pills in the capital's Dakkhinkhan area.
Tipped off, a special team of the Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) conducted the drive on Sunday and arrested Delwar Hossain, 32, and Yusuf, 28, said DMP Deputy Commissioner (Media) Masudur Rahman on Monday.
The plain-clothes police recovered 20,000 Yaba tablets from their possession, he said.

43-member executive body of BDJA formed
A 43-member executive committee of Barisal Division Journalists' Association (BDJA) was formed on Monday with Azizul Islam Bhuiyan, Editor of Bangladesh News, and Aminul Islam Mirja, Diplomatic Correspondent of BSS, as president and general secretary respectively.
The committee was formed at a meeting of this regional journalists' body at Jatiya Press Club in Dhaka with outgoing president of BDJA Abdur Rahman in the chair, said a press release.
Editor of the daily Samakal and Chief Adviser of the association Golam Sarwar, who joined the meeting as the chief guest, announced the committee for the next two years. Outgoing general secretary of the association Elias Khan conducted the meeting.
A total of 27 members of the executive committee of the association were also elected at the meeting.

Symposium held in capital
A daylong symposium on ‘Environmental Chemistry for Securing Water Quality’ was held at Bangladesh Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (BCSIR)in the capital on Sunday, says a press release.
It was organised by Bangladesh Journal of Scientific and Industrial Research (BJSIR). The title sponsor of the symposium was Pureit, leading water purifier brand of Unilever Bangladesh Ltd.
About 200 local and foreign experts attended the symposium and presented 89 research articles on water pollution and purification. Architect Yeafesh Osman, Minister of Science and Technology, inaugurated the symposium.
