CHITTAGONG: A special tribunal in a verdict here yesterday awarded two arms supplier to 10 years rigorous imprisonment each for possessing arms and ammunitions illegally, reports BSS.
The divisional special Public Safety Tribunal-1, Judge Sayada Hossneara Begum, delivered the judgment convicting Mohammad Abu Sayed and Noor Ali, court officials said.
All the convicts remained fugitive, they added.
The prosecution story, in brief, is that Chittagong Metropolitan police (CMP) arrested them with a country made gun and three cartridge from Madhina Hotel in Bahaddarhat area under Chandgaon Police Station in the city on January 17 in 2001.
Later police filed an arms case with Chandgaon Thana against them.
On May 27 in 2001, police submitted charge sheets against Mohammad Abu Sayed and Noor Ali.
The court handed down the verdict today after examining prosecution witnesses and relevant evidences.
