Jamuna Bank manager ‘kills’ self

SYLHET: Police recovered the hanging body of the branch manager of Jamuna Bank's Beanibazar branch from his rented residence on Monday afternoon, reports UNB.

The deceased was identified as Sajal Kanti Dev, a resident of Bagbari area of the district town, and father to a son and daughter. His family members live in Sylhet city town.

Chandan Kumar Chakrabarti, officer-in-charge of Beanibazar Police Station said Sajal used to live on the third floor of the Al-Arafah Bank building with a colleague. He would go home for lunch during his break before returning to office.

“Today at lunch time he went to his residence but didn't return. That's why some employees went there and knocked but he did not respond. So, they informed owner of the building, local councillor and police,” the OC relayed.  Later, police broke the door and recovered the body hanging by a rope from a fan. It was subsequently brought down and sent to Osmani Medical College Hospital.
