Beauty gives confessional statement

Khulna: Beauty Begum, mother of Rakib killing prime accused Sharif and also an accused herself, reportedly made confessional statement before a court here yesterday, reports UNB. Metropolitan Magistrate Aysha Akhter recorded the statement of Beauty Begum under section 164 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC). Police and court sources said the accused was produced before the court for her confessional statement around 11am. The court completed recording the statement around 4pm.
In her statement, the accused informed the court that her son Sharif and one of his accomplices Mintu Khan were involved in the brutal killing of the minor boy.
The accused mentioned that she witnessed how the duo killed the minor boy by pumping air from a compressor into his abdomen through his anus. Earlier on Thursday, a court placed Beauty Begum on a three-day remand.
Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Faruk Iqbal passed the order after hearing a remand petition filed by Sadar Police Station sub-inspector Kazi Mostaque Ahmed, also the investigation officer of the case, earlier on Tuesday.
On Tuesday, SI Kazi Mostaque Ahmed produced the three accused in the case -- motorcycle garage owner Sharif, his mother Beauty and Mintu -- before the court and sought a 10-day remand against Beauty Akhter.
Police will seek remand against the two other accused as soon as their health condition improves. The duo was injured in a mob beating following the death of Rakib and is currently undergoing treatment at a local hospital under police custody. Earlier on August 3, minor boy Rakib, who used to work at a motorcycle garage at Tutpara Central Road in Khulna city, was tortured to death allegedly by his employers over quitting job. Locals caught the two torturers - ‘Sharif Motorcycle Garage’ owner Sharif and Mintu and handed them over to the local police station after giving them a good beating. Alam Haldar, victim’s father, filed a case with Sadar Police Station against three people -- Sharif and Mintu and Beauty Begum -- on Tuesday. Earlier on July 8, 13-year-old boy Sheikh Samiul Alam Rajon, son of Sheikh Azizur Rahman of Badeali village in sadar upazila of Sylhet, was brutally tortured to death over theft at Sundar Ali Market in Kumargaon area of Sylhet city.
