Current nets worth Tk 4 cr seized

Members of Coast Guard in Chandpur have seized banned current nets worth about Tk 4 crores in a drive in a passenger launch on the Meghna river near Chandpur launch terminal early yesterday.
Acting on secret information, the Coast Guard members, led by Chandpur Station Comma-nder Lt Md Nuruzzaman, intercepted
the Barisal-bound launch
MV Tipu-4 at around 1:00 am and seized the banned
current nets.
No one was arrested in this connection. Later in the morning, all the seized nets were burnt to ashes on the premises of the Coast Guard Station in presence of the
fisheries officials and  local journalists.
