Amid the growing concern over deaths of children in torture across the country, a minor boy was beaten and seriously injured by some locals over a trifling matter at Charjagabandhu village in Kamalnagar of Laxmipur, reports UNB. The incident came to light on Thursday after a case was filed with Kamalnagar Police Station accusing four people. The victim Shipon, 9, a class I student of a local primary school and son of Abul Kalam of the village, is receiving treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital. Local people said some people, including Didar Hossain, son of late Bashir Ullah, his brother Murad Hossain and Yeasin, son of Abur Rab, beat up the boy for defecating on the bank of a pond at the village on July 27 (Tuesday). The attackers also hit the boy with brick and smashed his head by it, leaving him seriously injured. Later he was rushed to Kamalnagar Upazila Health Complex and shifted to Noakhali General Hospital as his condition deteriorated. Following deterioration of Shipon’s condition, doctors referred him to Dhaka Medical College Hospital on Thursday. Rafiqul Islam, sub-inspector of Kamalnagar Police Station, said Hasan, uncle of the victim, filed a case against four people with the police station on Thursday. Police arrested Didar Hossain on the same day for his alleged involvement in the incident.
