�Ansar-Al-Islam� admits to Niloy murder

A group claiming to be Ansar-Al-Islam, the Bangladesh chapter of al-Qaeda in the Indian Sub-Continent (AQIS), yesterday claimed responsibility for the murder of progressive blogger Niladri Chakrabarty, popularly known as Niloy Neel, terming him an enemy of Allah. The militant group, in an email sent to media houses by its spokesperson Mufti Abdullah Ashraf, also vowed to carry such attacks in the future. “Alhamdulillah! Mujahidin of AQIS’s Bangladesh Branch carried out an operation to slaughter an enemy of Allah (swt) and His Messenger (peace & blessings be upon him), whose name is Niloy Chowdhury Neel (sic),” reads the mail. “By the permission of Allah (swt), this operation took place today at 1:45pm at Khilgaon! Alhamdulillah. We, al-Qaeda in the Indian Sub-Continent, claim responsibility for this operation as vengeance for the honor of the messenger of Allah (pbuh),” it says.
The mail continued: “And we declare war against these worst enemies of Allah (swt) and His messenger (pbuh). We will apply our effort to destroy them along with their allies, insha’Allah. Alhamdulillah! This operation has healed the hearts of Muslims and the righteous scholars of this land. And the hearts of hypocrites and disbelievers are burning with rage. O Muslim Ummah! We assure you that, as long as blood flows in the veins of yours sons, these kinds of enemies of Allah (swt) and His messenger (pbuh) will be attacked by us, insha’Allah,” said the email.
“If your Freedom of Speech maintains no limits, then widen your chest for the ‘Freedom of our Machetes’. We did not forget and we will not forget others insha’Allah,” the email ends by saying.
The email was sent
from the address [email protected] and the originating IP address was traced to a location in Durham in the USA, said an ICT expert.
