Pabna: Rashed Kabir, dean of Science Faculty at Pabna University of Science and Technology (PUST), was killed and nine others were injured as a bus plunged into a roadside ditch on Pabna-Dhaka highway in Chakla area of Bera upazila early yesterday, reports UNB.
Abu Md Delwar Hasan Inam, officer-in-charge of Santhia Police Station, said that the Pabna-bound bus ‘Sarker Travels’ from Dhaka skidded off the road and fell into a roadside ditch under Chanda Bridge in the area around 1:30 am, leaving 10 including Rashed Kabir injured.
On information, police and firefighters rushed to the spot and rescued the injured.
The injured were taken to Bera Upazila Hospital where doctors declared Rashed, 55, dead.
Rashed Kabir, son of Imam Ahmed, hailed from Arambagh of Dhaka.
Meanwhile, another person, who suffered injuries in a head-on collision between a bus and a microbus in Madhukhali upazila of Faridpur on Friday night, died at Faridpur Medical College Hospital early
yesterday, raising the death toll from the incident to five.
