Ghashful to be screened at Shilpakala today

Ghashful (The Flower of Grass), a full-length Bangla feature film directed by Akram Khan, has been selected for screening for the month of July at the yearlong film festival titled New Films, New Filmmakers. The film will be screened today at 7pm at the National Art Plaza of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA), Segun Bagicha in the capital.
The cast of the film Ghashful includes Kazi Asif, Saila Sabi, Tania Bishti, Naila Azad Nupur, Manas Mukhopadhoya and others. The music of the film is directed by Sani Zubayer. The films script writers are Moshiul Alam, Akram Khan and Layla Afroz.
The yearlong event New Films, New Filmmakers, jointly organised by Moviyana Film Society and Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA), has begun in September last year. The closing ceremony and award programme of the festival will be held in September this year.
The jury board for the film festival selected five short films among the submitted films between July 1 and 10. Besides, best three films from the last year will also be screened at the programme under special consideration.
Aminur Rahman Mukuls short film Oborodh and Polash Rosul-directed documentary film Hefajotnama will be screened at 3pm today.
On the other hand, five selected short films tip directed by Mohammad Arafat Mollic, Amader Bosonto by Farid Bashar Shafin, Rup by Viki Zahid, Poth by by Abid Mollik and In the Shadows will be screened at 4:30pm at the auditorium of the National Art Plaza of BSA.
After the screening of the films, a further segment titled Cinema Five Alap will be held today at 5:30pm. With the subject Bangladesher Chalachitra Andolon, Chalachitra Charcya ebong Amader Swapno O Bastobota, Moviyana Film Societys founder and president Belayet Hossain Mamun will attend the event as the main discussant.
