Biman Bangladesh Airlines has decided to keep its cargo import terminal at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) open for seven days in week from now on to remove heavily clogged goods, reports BSS.
The national flag carrier urged all importers to release their imported goods from the terminal as soon as possible by taking the opportunities, a press release of Biman said yesterday.
Biman also warned the importers mentioning that there is a provision for charging fine if the goods are not released within the given time.
The airport maintenance and security operations are hampered due to clogged goods at the cargo terminal.
Biman, that is solely responsible for cargo handling, will facilitate goods release through the gates (A and B) of the terminal every day from yesterday, with the help of customs department and Sonali Bank.
Biman authority sought cooperation from all importers and Clearing and Forwarding (C&F) agents in improving the standard of cargo handling of HSIA, added the release.
