A total of 443 industrial units have been registered with the Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA) during April to June quarter (Q2) of 2017, reports BSS.
During the three months, BIDA received proposals for investing a total of Tk 2,90,256.58 million from the local and foreign entrepreneurs for investing in 443 industrial units, said a press release in capital yesterday.
From April to June this year, BIDA received proposals from overseas investors for investing a total of Tk 15,875.60 million in 47 industrial units in some fully foreign owned and joint venture units with local entrepreneurs.
BIDA also got proposals from local entrepreneurs for investing a total of Tk 2,74,380.98 million in 396 industrial unites.
According to the BIDA, the highest number of proposals came for textile sector, which was 32.89 per cent of the total proposed amount. The chemical sector came next with 22.41 per cent followed by engineering sector 18.12 per cent, service sector 6.94 per cent and others 19.64 per cent.
The BIDA said that the investment proposal from local and foreign entrepreneurs would create a total of 64,455 jobs in the newly registered industrial units.
