Stocks witnessed flat yesterday with slightly upward trend of major indices at Dhaka and Chittagong stock exchanges despite higher transactions, reports BSS.
The daily trade value increased to Tk 656.15 crore from Monday’s Tk 631.39 crore and the volume rose to 21.14 crore shares from 18.06 crore shares of the week’s closing session.
The broader DSEX index of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) closed the day with 3.78 points up at 5,801.89. But the blue-chip DS30 and the Shariah DSES closed the day with 1.10 points down at 2,124.24 and with 0.39 point down at 1,312.34.
At DSE, out of the day’s 330 securities, prices of 138 securities closed higher against 131 losing issues.
The major gaining issues were GHCL, BD Finance, CMC Kamal, Rupali Insurance and Regent Textile. The major losing issues were Jute Spinning, Northern Insurance, Fine Foods, Beach Hatchery and MEGCONMILK. City Bank topped the turnover list followed by Ifad Autos, Lanka Bangla Finance, SPCL and Fu Wang Foods.
The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) closed the day of the week with upward trend with its major CASPI 20.89 points up at 18,004.68.
At CSE, issues traded 249 issues. Of those, 119 closed higher and 88 closed lower when 1.27 crore shares worth Tk 31.07 crore changed hands.
