AL leader Ishaq Mia laid to rest

CHITTAGONG: Veteran Awami League (AL) leader and member of the Advisory Council of the Bangladesh Awami League M Ishaq Mia was laid to eternal rest with state honour yesterday, reports BSS.

The AL leader was buried at his family graveyard in Hajapara area of North Agrabad in the port city around 4pm after the 2nd namaj-e-janaja.

Thousands of people irrespective of political affiliation, leaders of different professional bodies and socio-cultural bodies attended the namaz-e- janaza. The people of all strata of the port city broke down into tears when the body of the AL presidium member popularly known as Ishak bhai was taken to the graveyard.

Most of the areas of North Agrabad are almost covered with banners of condolences and black flags hoisted on roads, highways and lanes to mourn the death.
