With the slogan of making a stronger bond among the former cricketers, the Walton Second Masters Cricket Carnival-2017 will get underway at the tourists’ city of Cox’s Bazar on Wednesday.
Walton, the renowned electrical, electronic, automobiles, home appliances and telecommunication manufacturing company, extended their hands to make the cricket carnival successful as the title sponsor.
Powered by Scant Cement, the four-day tournament will be played at two different grounds of the Sheikh Kamal International Cricket Stadium and its Academy Ground beside the world’s largest sea beach with the participation of the former star players.
Former captain and convenor of the carnival Khaled Masud Pilot disclosed all at the press conference at the Media Block of the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium (SBNCS) yesterday.
“We started Masters Cricket Carnival in 2016. We attempted to bring all the former cricketers under one platform through this Masters Cricket Carnival so that we could build a firm bond among us all along with help the country,” Pilot said in his reaction.
Former paceman Hasibul Hossain Shanto, Walton executive director (policy, HR and admin) SM Zahid Hasan, its senior operative director Uday Hakim and Heidelberg Cement Limited director (marketing and sales) Syed Abu Abed Shaher were also present on the occasion.
“Cricket is the big place for branding. So, we have extended our hands and made our efforts to make the tournament more glamorous than the past,” said SM Zahid Hasan.
A total of six teams including Bashundhara Group-Dhaka Division Masters, Raw-Nation Dhaka Metro Masters, Ispahani-Chittagong Masters, Acme-Rajshahi Masters, Titans-Khulna Masters and Expo-All Stars Masters will take part in the gala tournament.
Former captains Naimur Rahman Durjoy will lead Bashundhara Group-Dhaka Division Masters, Khaled Masud Pilot for Acme-Rajshahi Masters, Khaled Mahmud Sujon for Raw-Nation Dhaka Metro Masters, Habibul Bashar Sumon for Titans-Khulna Masters, Akram Khan or Minhajul Abedin Nannu for Ispahani-Chittagong Masters, while Hasibul Hossain Shanto will spearhead Expo-All Stars Masters.
