Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Chairman Iqbal Mahmood yesterday said the anti graft body wants to eliminate corruption through human perspective, reports BSS.
“We want and expect public officials to do their job as per rules and regulation. If all do that, no allegation comes to us and we also don’t have to file any cases. For the sake of the wellbeing of our future generation, we’ll not let go anyone with corruption,” he said.
The ACC chief said these while addressing a discussion titled “Graft-free public services: Nature of corruption allegation” in Barisal.
Barisal Divisional Commissioner Shahiduzzaman in the chair, the discussion was attended, among others, by ACC director general Dr Md Shamsul Arefin, Barisal police commissioner SM Ruhul Amin, DIG Sheikh Maruf Hossain, deputy commissioner Dr Gazi Saifuzzaman and ACC Barisal divisional director Md Akter Hossain.
Answering a question of newsmen, Mahmood said his agency is adopting zero tolerance policy in dealing with graft allegations against his own men.
He urged public officials to innovate such a system in providing government services, so that commoners don’t have to face any corruption and harassment.
“We have to start the culture of thanking people after giving the service they need. This country is ours and we have to think about its future unitedly. I can assure you that ACC will not harass any public official illegally,” he added.
After the discussion, the ACC chief paid a sudden visit to Hogla School in Barisal Sadar Upazila and distributed notebooks, geometry boxes and umbrella with slogans on moral values written on.
