3 get death penalty for killing boatman

A court in Manikganj yesterday awarded capital punishment to 3 persons for killing boatman Abdur Razzak at Bahadurpur area under Harirampur upazila in Manikganj. The court also fined Tk 20,000 each. After hearing all the records and witnesses, District and Sessions Judge of Manikganj Md Mizanur Rahman Khan delivered the verdict yesterday in presence of the convicts. The condemned convicted were identified as Monirul Islam Rubel, Rashed Molla and Kartik Hawlader, hailed from Faridpur and Pabna.

According to the prosecution in brief, the accused took Abdur Razzak’s engine-driven boat on rent on October 5, 2015. Later, they fled with the boat after killing Abdur Razzak.

Later, on October 9, the deceased’s brother Laltu Mollik filed a murder case with Harirampur Police Station.
