The way Bangladesh have been performing in Test besides one-day at home and away conditions since last one year as batsman Mominul Haque said that they should win the next Test home series against Australia at home yard.

Australia are scheduled to arrive here in Bangladesh to play the two-Test series in August 18.

“My expectation is to win the series 2-0,” said Mominul Haque, who performed well in the domestic cricket on newly-introduced deck.

“The way we have been playing Tests since last few years in that sense, I wish, we win two-Test matches against Australia. But if the result will be 1-1, that’s not bad,” Mominul told reporters yesterday.

“But I firmly believe that we have capability to win Test because this time our Test team is quite better than the past,” he added.

But he thinks that the next Australia series would not be easier than the last home series against the high-ranked England it would be somewhat challenging for them.

“They are stronger side in whatever side you think of them,” the diminutive batsman said.

“They have a stronger pace and spin bowling battery. Even they could adopt themselves with any condition,” he also said.

“It seems to me that the series will be somewhat challenging than the last England series. The sort of wickets we play it would be challenging to face any bowler on this wicket,” he added.

He of course gives an explanation and said, “Before coming here in Bangladesh, England did not play any match in the subcontinent. But Australia played in Indian condition in some days back before coming here.”

The left-handed batsman said that they are preparing themselves in that vein so that they could confront them what we have in our arsenal.

“As we have Test games ahead so we are batting practice in the form of Test mentality how we can stay at crease for the longer period and how we can bat session by session. Actually we’re working with these matters,” the south-paw told.

When asked if he set any target in the upcoming Test series against the top-flight Aussie side, he said that he always tries to play for the team what is required for it.

“I have set no target for myself,” the 25-year-old lad said.

“Always I try to play better cricket for the team. When it is needed to play big innings for the team, I will try to do that and that’s my target in the upcoming series against Australia,” he replied.

“Setting a target in that way is not possible to reach. After making a good start, sometimes it’s possible. If you set a pre-match target to hundred or double hundred then you will be stung to a level. But if you set a target to make more runs, it automatically will then be made. But I’ve not set any target to hit 100 or 200. It’ll be done when the day is favourable for me,” he added.

“It is not enough to score 50-60 in Test. Hundred or more runs could play a role for the team. I am practicing in that mentality. Let’s see what is happened.”

Cox’s Bazar-born Mominul played so far 22 Tests and 26 ODIs after being stepped into international cricket in 2012. But he could not cement his position in one-day what he did in Tests. When asked if he feels any regret not to play in one-day, the consistent Test performer frankly acknowledged and said, “Initially I wouldn’t understand but now I understand it. It seems to me difficult. Now I try so that it does not enter into my mind. To be honest, if you don’t recall these matters it never crosses my mind.”
