Twelve members of inter-district robber gang held in capital

Detectives arrested 12 members of an inter-district robber gang from South Jatrabari area in the capital on Monday, UNB reports quoting police yesterday.
Two pistols, two magazines, two handcuffs, one DB jacket, some sharp weapons and other materials used in committing robbery were recovered from their possessions.
The arrestees are Barek Mia, Gaffar Ahmed, Monir Hossain, Rasel alias Borsha, Al Amin alias Dipo, Morshed alias Minto, Sabuj Hossain Shyamal alias Alam, Riaj, Mehedi Hasan alias Mehedi, driver Md Nazmul Hasan alias Ershad and Arman Hossain.
Briefing reporters at DMP media centre yesterday, Joint Commissioner (DB) Abdu Baten said based on secret information, a special DB team raided South Jatrabari area at around 2:50 pm and arrested the 12 members of an inter-district robber gang while they were preparing to commit robbery.
During preliminary interrogation, the arrestees revealed that they usually take position diving into small groups in and outside a bank.
One group target a client when he or she draws money and it convey the information to another group which stay outside the bank. The third group wait inside a microbus near the bank, he said.
Finally, when the targeted client come out from the bank with the money, the robber pick him or her up inside the microbus and loot valuables at gun point.
A case was filed with Jatrabari police station.
