Housewife killed over dowry

Sherpur: A housewife was tortured to death allegedly by his husband at Puran Sribardi area of Sreebardi upazila yesterday, reports UNB.

The deceased was identified as Sakhina Begum, 22, wife of Sundar Ali.

Bhutto Miah, father of the deceased, alleged that they gave Tk 50,000 as dowry during her daughter marriage seven months back.

Later, Sundar’s family members demanded dowry again and they continued to torture Sakhina.

This morning, locals spotted Sakhina’s body at the house and informed police, said Md Akhteruzzaman, sub-inspector of Sreebardi Police Station.

Later, police recovered the body that bore several injury marks on it.

Sundar as well as his family members went into hiding after the incident, added the OC.
