Saif threatens to withdraw premier league sponsorship

Sports Reporter

Saif Powertec threatened to withdraw their sponsorship from the domestic football when they had five years contract with the Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF).

Saif Powertec and it’s sister concern Saif Global Sports signed on five years contract June 11, 2016 for Taka 20 crores, is annoyed with the BFF for failing to follow some of their conditions, as they want to pull out their sponsorship, just after one year and one month.

It will be an upset news for the BFF ahead to start the Bangladesh Premier League according to their reschedule.

The managing director of the Saif Powertec Tarafdar Ruhl Amin informed that they have already handed a letter to BFF informing their problems demanding solutions and want to have a meeting with them.

Tarafadar Ruhul Amin said, “We try to make the BFF understand our problems through the letter.”

About the problems, Tarafdar said, “You see, they could not maintain the schedule to start the league in proper time about the venue of the league they failed to follow the conditions of our contract.”

Meanwhile the Bangladesh Premier League was supposed to begin from June 3 failing to maintain that, then made another date from June 12 and also failed to kick off the league and deferred it for 48 days to start from July 28.

Tarafdar said, “See, failed to start the league, but the problem became more when they reduced the venues of organising the league.”

Meanwhile, the league was supposed to organise in seven venues across the country but last season it was held in five venues and this time it become to only two when only Dhaka and Chittagong. So the Sponsors company became very unpleasant.

Tarafdar replying to a query whether they will continue their sponsorship with the BFF, said, “The decision will come out within a week, now we want to make seating with the BFF and will discuss about all the problems and will see what the solution they will make.”

Abu Nayeem Shohag, general secretary of the BFF agreed about the letter of the Saif Powertec, “Yes, they sent a letter on Thursday with mentioning their problems. Our league committee chairman Abdus Salam Murshedi is now in abroad, after his returning home we will have a meeting on all the issues.
