Shakib Al Hasan, the iconic all-rounder of Bangladesh, yet again returned in Mirpur after the end of the 48 hours observation and elapsed the day by cycling at the BCB-National Cricket Academy (NCA) gymnasium yesterday.
But he could not take part in the team’s ongoing conditioning camp right away. The all-rounder will start warm-up within the next one-two days and join the team in the succeeding week.
Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) physician Dr Monirul Amin Howlader confirmed the news to media at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium yesterday.
“Shakib sustained injury on his left ankle on July 14 what we call it ‘left ankle strain’. Here the problem had been happened in one-two ligaments due to injury. It’s a ‘grade-1’ injury, which is very simple. We’ve tried to cure it by our conservative treatment,” said Monirul Amin.
“Already his injury started improving. Swelling has been mostly mitigated. Hopefully he could take part in the upper-body exercise within the next one-two days. Gradually he could also take part in the lower-body cycling and working,” Dr Amin told reporters.
“Hopefully he could start doing his full-fledged activities within the 10 days,” he added. However, Shakib sustained injury on his left ankle at his Banani residence on July 14 while he was getting down from the stairs.
On the other hand, fast bowler Rubel Hossain will also return to action soon. The paceman got struck on his right cheekbone after colluding with a door of the team hotel at the time of the recently concluded ICC Champions Trophy 2017 in United Kingdom (UK). Thereafter, he was given four-week rest following his operation at Mirpur Delta Hospital on June 21.
The dateline will be ended in the current week. So he could come back in practice session. But he is required some more times to be fully fit. In this regard, Dr Monirul said that Rubel Hossain could participate in full-fledged training after August 5.
