Xinhua, HANOI: Vietnam’s Viettel, VNPT and MobiFone reported considerable revenues and profits in the first half of this year, and the military-run Viettel is expanding its services abroad, the Vietnam Telecommunications Authority said on Monday.
In the first six-month period, the Vietnam Posts and Telecommunications Group (VNPT) made revenues of 68,000 billion Vietnamese dong (over 3 billion US dollars), up 6 percent on-year.
Meanwhile, the state-owned group reaped profits of 2,390 billion Vietnamese dong (105.8 million US dollars), up 15.5 per cent.
VNPT said it is installing 30,000 third-generation and fourth-generation base transceiver stations this year.
From January to June, MobiFone gained revenues of 21,274 billion Vietnamese dong (941.3 million US dollars), and profits of 2,600 billion Vietnamese dong (115 million US dollars).
Meanwhile, the Vietnam Military Telecommunications Group (Viettel), the country’s biggest mobile network operator, reported revenues of 117,714 billion Vietnamese dong (5.2 billion US dollars), and profits of 21,471 billion Vietnamese dong (950 million US dollars).
