ULAB takes part in EAUC Driving Sustainability Leadership Programme in UK
University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB) took part in the EAUC Driving Sustainability Leadership Programme at Westminster College, Cambridge, UK recently, says a press release.
The Environmental Association of Universities and Colleges (EAUC) and Pricewaterhouse Coopers (PwC) jointly organised the programme where prominent scholars from University of Harvard, Oxford, Cambridge and Wales conducted the training.
As part of its Greening ULAB programme, Dr Samiya Selim, Director of the Centre for Sustainable Development, joined the workshop which focused on a few key themes such as operationalizing sustainability, sustainable innovation and sustainability leadership. A total of 30 representatives comprising of academics, professionals and the private industry were present at this workshop.
University of South Asia holds workshop on public health
The University of South Asia held a workshop on public health (PH) at its Banani campus in the capital, recently, says a press release.
The university organised the workshop in collaboration with the Asian Institute of Disability and Development (AIDD) and CSF Global.
The workshop, aimed at highlighting the significance of PH approach to ensure the health rights of our people, was inaugurated by Vice-chancellor of the university Prof Wadud Mondal. Referring to growing importance of PH, the speakers demanded setting up of more academic institutions for offering degrees on PH in the country.
The event consisted of a series of interactive working sessions by resource persons such as Prof Dr MA Muhit, Chairman of the university, and Dr Gulam Khandaker, senior lecturer, University of Sydney, Australia.
Prof Ananda made Pro VC at RU
The government has appointed as Professor Dr Ananda Kumar Saha as the pro vice chancellor of Rajshahi University.
The education ministry has issued a notification yesterday in this regard.
The notification said, President Abdul Hamid, also chancellor of the university, made the appointment for the next four years as per section 13(2) of the Rajshahi University Act.
Prof Dr Ananda Kumar Saha, a teacher of Zoology dept has been serving Bangladesh Federal University Teachers Association (BFUTA) and former RU teachers Association president, Dean of Life Earth Science Faculty, syndicate member and departmental head posts at the university.
Canadian University of Bangladesh holds syndicate meeting
Canadian University of Bangladesh arranged the 4th Syndicate Meeting at its conference room recently, says a press release.
Prof William H Derrenger, Vice -chancellor, Canadian University of Bangladesh chaired the meeting. Dr Chowdhury Nafeez Sarafat, Founder and Chairman, BoT, Ms. Anjuman Ara Shahid, Vice Chairman, BoT, Chowdhury Raheeb Safwan Sarafat, Member, BoT, Ms. Chowdhury Jahraa Sarafat, Member, BoT of Canadian University of Bangladesh, Prof Dr Nazmul Ahsan Kalimullah, Dr Jamaluddin Ahmed, FCA, Prof. Md Helal Uddin Nizami, Majurul Haque Khan, S M Arifuzzaman and Ms. Zohra Nazneen were present in the meeting.
A number of constructive decisions were taken to ensure quality education and to enroll quality students in this Syndicate Meeting.
RU Press Club to celebrate 31st founding anniversary July 20
Rajshai University Press Club (RUPC) will celebrate its 31st founding anniversary on July 20.
RUPC president, Taslimul Alam Towhid, confirmed the information through a press release yesterday.
Marking its anniversary, it would arrange a day-long programme, including a colorful rally, tree plantation, releasing balloons and pigeon, discussion meeting, reminiscence with its former members, and captive cultural programme at university auditorium.
RU vice-chancellor Professor Dr M Abdus Sobhan is expected to attend the ceremony as the chief gust where AFP Bureau Chief in Bangladesh Shafiqul Alam would present as chief discussant on the programme. Besides, RUPC chief adviser and also dept of Social Science Prof Abdur Rahman Siddiqie, Public Relation Officer of Biman Bagladesh Airlines Shakil Meraj, and Vice President of Bangladesh Federal Journalist Union Rezaul Karim Raju will be present as the special guests.
