Bangladesh Test cricket team skipper Mushfiqur Rahim termed the last home series with South Africa as inspirational and said that if they could maintain their consistent performance in the next home series against Australia it is possible to fare well against them also.
“Obviously Australian team are always in between No. 1 and 2 in ODI, Test and Twenty20 rankings. From that point of view, I think Australia are a talented side. Although they have been performing shoddy performance they are always a professional side. We have to carry on the momentum that we showed in the last four home series and then it will be possible to beat them,” said Mushfiqur Rahim yesterday.
“It will obviously be difficult for us. But we have beliefs that the way Bangladesh team have been performing since last three series if we could keep our consistency then the series with Australia will be quite good series for us,” Mushfiq told media at a local hotel in the city, where he penned a year-long contract with Daraz.com.bd as their brand ambassador. Sumeet Singh, founder and CEO of daraz.com.bd signed on behalf of the company.
“In terms of individual and team’s performance Bangladesh team have been performing well. We just want to maintain its continuation for doing well,” he added.
Daraz.com.bd  is the country’s leading e-retail brand shopping moll, who is hosting more than 15,000 products ranging from an array of fashion, mobiles, electronics, home compliances and beauty products with a portfolio of over 250 brands. For this they have built up a nexus with the national and international brand companies including Yellow, Noir, Ecstasy, Bata, Samsung, Huawei, Symphony, Maximus, Intex, Watches World, The Body Shop.
The home series against Australia will be held in October. They have two months in our hands. But the 28-year-old batsman-turned-wicketkeeper said that they seek to start afresh series against Aussie after a 15-day vacation.
“We have two-month in hand. But we are getting a vacation only for 15 days. Thereafter, we have the fitness and skill camp ahead. We will try our best to enjoy the achievement that we earned from the last home series against South Africa,” the diminutive cricketer Mushfiq opines.
“The team has a good combination with the blend of senior and youngster players at the moment. For it, we got to see some good result. Hopefully we could continue it ahead and that’s important for us. After the vacation we wish to start afresh with the momentum that we had.”
Citing the South African series, Bogra-born skipper said that the series was the source of learning which will motivate them to move forward.
The series with South Africa was a learning series for us. The way we came back following three straight defeats that was really a big lesson for us. It’ll help us to move forward. I think the South African series is a great achievement for us,” he thinks.
The Test skipper said that they have no opportunity to take any series lightly. They have proven false their critics through their performance.
“South Africa and Australia are two different sides. They have every capability to adjust themselves in any condition across the globe despite being showed comparatively shoddy performance. For it they’re stayed in between the position of No.1 and 2,” Mushfiq said.
“I think there is no chance to take any series lightly. We’ve done what with Pakistan that was really unbelievable. But many told us Pakistan side was full of too young players. But when he performed well against India they once again told we’ve performed than our ability and so we have done well against them. But we’ll not play well against South Africa. We’ve proven our actual strength this time also,” he points out.
