Arrest warrant for Prothom Alo editor

A Jhenaidah court issued arrest warrants for daily Prothom Alo Editor Matiur Rahman and two other of its journalists in two defamation cases. Two other two are the daily’s Jhenaidah correspondent Azad Rahman and local journalist Subrata Sarkar.
Judicial Magistrate Mohammad Sajjad Hossain of Jhenaidah sessions judges court (Kotchandpur) issued the warrants of arrest.
According to the daily, the cases were filed by Tanvir Ahmed, son of Baluhar union Awami League President Aqimul Islam, and Juba League activist Mohammad Saiful Islam of Sabdalpur under Kotchandpur upazila of the district. The plaintiffs were allocated a government fund to buy power tillers.
