The tour-ending three-day match is drifting towards the expected draw owing to the gritty resistance from the Northern Territory Invitational XI as Jacob Dickman blazed an unbeaten century after Ryan Hackney’s century-like knock.
Actually Dickman’s scintillating unbeaten 102 coupled with Hackney’s 97 engineered the Invitational XI to take a paltry four-run lead against Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB)-High Performance (HP) Team on the close of the second day of the three-day mater at the Marrara Cricket Ground (MCG-1) yesterday. Before finishing the second day, the Australian side mustered 316 for three in response to BCB-HP team’s declared 312 for six.
The local side made a solid start through their openers-Ryan Hackney and Nathan McSweeney- as the duo hit 84 runs for the opening stand before the fall of McSweeney, who fell for 40 off 83, clobbering half-a-dozen boundary.
Opener Ryan Hackney fell just three runs shy of his credible century. Before being trapped lbw by leg-spinner Tanvir Haider, he smashed nine boundaries in his patient 97 off 187-ball.
Thereafter, Jacob Dickman partnered with Joshua Doyle and made a gritty resistance against the visitors’ bowling attack. The duo finished the day having unbeaten. They stitched together an impressive 105 for the unbroken fourth wicket partnership.
Dickman clouted 102 off 170 that studded with nine fours and one six. And Doyle made 46 off 69-ball, clubbing six fours to be remained indefatigable.
Leg-spinner Tanvir Haider snapped up two wickets, while Nihaduzzaman picked up one wicket for the visiting side.
