Bangladesh opener Tamim Iqbal’s abrupt exit from Essex County Club created a furore amid his fans, well-wishers and cricket-loving people across the world for the instrumentality of local media to international media.
Media wrote it of a ‘hate crime’ what is happened on Tamim and his family in United Kingdom (UK). But Tamim himself has given his explanation through his Twitter and facebook accounts as saying he left Essex not completing his eight-game stint for just his personal reasons.
Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) president Nazmul Hassan Papon on Friday said that they all should stop the matter respecting Tamim’s personal matter as he himself seeks to not make it public.
The president also said that if Tamim makes his complain to us about it then the board will go through it.
“It’s a sensitive issue. Sensitive in a sense it has an impact. If it is really happened then it should be reported along with filed a G.D in police station. But I think an incident what is happened was not so serious,” said Nazmul Hassan.
“And so, Tamim may think that it has no need to report in police. But the biggest thing is that Tamim is our best performer, batsman. Nobody denies it. His contribution to the country is great. He is gentleman like player. He is a man of words,” Papon told local media at his residential house in the capital yesterday.
“As of now he wants to stop this by saying it is personal matter what is happened there. I think it should not need to go for the next procedure. That’s enough for him. He does not exaggerate; he does not make it public. He wants to stop it here. He requests not to disclose. He repeatedly tells the same thing,” he added.
“I think we should respect Tamim like player and should finish it here. But if Tamim complains us about it then Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) will go through it no doubt.”
The BCB boss said that players should inform the board if anything like that is happened in days to come.
“In cricket world, when a player faces a problem to play cricket, every country handle it with strong hand. The entire cricket world takes it seriously. We should give complete attention to them,” he said.
“I will say to all the players if such incident is happened they should inform us without making any delay so that we could take appropriate measures for the future incident,” he also said. Nazmul said that they will take the final decision to appoint a spin coach in the next board meeting keeping the forthcoming international assignment in mind.
“Options are being widened. We kept those first in our list, some of whom were no time for the next two-three months. So, we are in tethers what to do,” the BCB president said. “Will we wait for the two-three months or will we go for the next three or four or five options, who are available now. Even I got a new proposal yesterday. So, we’ll call a board meeting in this month. Hopefully we could take a decision in that meeting about the spin coach,” he said.
When asked about the extension of the selectors, Papon said that they will evaluate their performance first then they will decide the matter.
“Performance will be evaluated first. Then they will go for the next procedure will we renew the contract with the existing selectors or appoint new ones. But we’ll settle it in the next board meeting,” Papon replied to a media query.
Regarding the BCB election, he said “Every thing depends on the court’s verdict. But election will be held in due time after getting the order from the court. Hopefully prior to the election it will be settled,” he said of the BCB election.
