JS budget session prorogued

The 4th budget session of the 10th Parliament was prorogued yesterday after 24 sittings that passed the national budget for 2017-18 fiscal year and seven bills, including three budget-related ones, reports UNB.
Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury read out the prorogation order of the President around 8:51 pm.
During the 16th session of the 10th Parliament that began on May 30 last, the proposed national budget of Tk 400,266 crore for the 2017-18 financial year was placed in the House on June 1 and it was passed on June 29.
Some 207 MPs took part in the general discussion on the proposed budget for a total of 56 hours and 14 minutes.
During the 45-day session, some 190 notices were placed under Section 71 of the Rules of Procedure, of which 12 were received and seven were discussed in the House.
Besides, 57 notices were discussed for two minutes under Section 71 (Ka) of the Rules of Procedure.
A total of 169 questions were received for the Prime Minister, of which she replied to 70 in the 3rd session of 2017.
The 16th session received a total of 2,809 questions for different ministers with the ministers replying to 1,938 of them.
