Police have recovered a Sten gun and a shotgun, both beset with rust and seemingly out of order, from the roof of a mosque toilet at Digholia in Abhoynagar upazila.
Police said locals spotted the two firearms wrapped in polythene on the rooftop of the Digholia Pashchimpara Mosque toilet in the afternoon and informed police.
Later, a team of Abhoynagar Police Station rushed in and recovered the out-of-order firearms.
Police suspect the arms may date back to the Liberation War era, after which they were kept under lock-and-key or buried under soil . that the arms were kept under soil after using in the liberation war.
Any person found the arms while digging soil today (Wednesday) and kept those on the toilet rooftop for avoiding trouble, said police, adding that the arms loss those effectiveness for rusting.
