Gold prices will drop by Tk 105 per gram from today in the local market, says a Bangladesh Jewellers Samity (BJS) press release.
BJS says that from today, a gram of 22-carat gold would be priced at Tk 3,580. A gram of 21-carat gold would be priced at Tk 3,400 and a gram of 18-carat gold would be priced at Tk 2,830.
Besides, price of traditional gold has been re-fixed at Tk 1,875 per gram.
Until yesterday, 22-carat gold was sold at Tk 3,685 per gram, 21-carat at Tk 3,505 per gram and 18-carat at Tk 2,935 per gram.
The price of traditional gold was Tk 1,960 per gram. It has dropped to Tk 1,875 per gram.
According to goldsmiths, one bhori of 22-carat gold contains 91.6 per cent pure gold, 21-carat 87.5 per cent and 18-carat gold contains 75 per cent pure gold.
There is no standard of traditional gold made by melting golden ornaments.
Prices of silver have also been cut by Tk 5 per gram.
The price of 21-carat (cadmium) silver has been re-fixed at Tk 80 per gram.
A gram of 21-carat silver was priced Tk 85 until yesterday.
