Seminar held a North South University
Office of the graduate studies of North South University organised a seminar titled “Some Determinants of Active Learning” at the Bashundhara Campus in the capital on Wednesday, says a pres release.
Professor Emeritus of the Pennsylvania State University of United States and Vice-Chancellor, Brac University, Prof. Syed Saad Andaleeb presented keynote and Prof. Atiqul Islam, Vice-chancellor of North South University (NSU) presided over the seminar.
Faculty members of various disciplines participated in the seminar. Dr Sharif Nurul Ahkam, Director Graduate Studies of NSU coordinate the seminar. At the end of the seminar a question and answer session was held.
DU admission test for MS in Renewable Energy on Saturday The admission test for MS in Renewable Energy Technology at Institute of Energy in Dhaka University (DU) under academic session 2017-2018 will be held on July 15.
The test will be held from 10 am to 11.30 am at Curzon Hall exam center on the campus, said a DU press release on Wednesday.
Director of the institute requested the applicants to be present in the exam hall by 9.45 am, the release added.
Bangladesh envoy to Austria meets DU VC
Bangladesh Ambassador to Austria and Permanent Mission to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in Vienna, Md Abu Zafar on Wednesday called on Dhaka University (DU) Vice-Chancellor Professor AAMS Arefin Siddique at his office on the campus.
DU Nuclear Engineering Department Chairman Md Shafiqul Islam was present at the meeting, said a DU press release.
During the meeting, they stressed the need for development of the Department of Nuclear Engineering, a newly established department at DU.
The DU vice-chancellor sought Ambassador Abu Zafar’s cooperation in undertaking joint academic and research programs on nuclear engineering between the University of Dhaka and other renowned universities in the world. The ambassador assured the VC of providing all possible support and cooperation in this regard.
Nepalese team calls on UGC chairman
A-8 member Nepalese UGC delegation led by Sitaram Bhattarai, Senior Administration Assistant, Research Division, UGC, Nepal paid a courtesy call on Professor Abdul Mannan, Chairman, University Grants Commission of Bangladesh at the latter’s office on Thursday, says a press release.
Professor Mannan apprised the delegation of the brief history, functions and activities of UGC and also overall higher education scenario of Bangladesh. He observed that expansion of higher education has taken place in the country over the years but now the main challenge is to enhance and maintain the quality at tertiary level. UGC has been relentlessly working for improving quality of higher education.
UGC chairman further said that some private universities of the country beside the public universities are producing graduates by imparting quality education. Qualified teachers at both the public and private universities are highly needed for producing quality graduates, he added. Professor Dr Md Akhtar Hossain, Member, UGC, Professor Dr. M. Shah Nowaz Ali, Member, UGC and Dr. Md. Khaled, Secretary, UGC, among others were present on the occasion.
